July 2021Bog Tales
Science communications training and performance opportunity for peatlands scientists!
In partnership with the IUCN UK Peatland Programme and Scottish Storytelling Centre, SAGES are organising Bog Tales, a peatland storytelling event on International Bog Day 2021. We are looking for enthusiastic communicators who want to learn how to share peatlands research through story to participate in funded training, and hopefully ultimately star in this exciting live-streamed event!
Any peatlands researcher, from PhD to professor, is eligible to apply. No previous experience required, just an enthusiasm for creativity and public engagement. You need to be available on the dates below to participate in interactive training workshops led by professional storyteller and trainer Alette Willis, which are designed to develop your narrative and performance skills. All participants will be invited to submit a creative video recording of their performance that will be hosted on the SAGES and IUCN UK PP websites and social media. A maximum of five participants, selected based on range of story styles and themes, will be invited to perform at the live event to audiences across Scotland and the world.
Please send a short motivational statement (max 2 paragraphs) describing your research and your reason for wanting to take part to the coordinator Dr Hannah Grist, [email protected]. Please also confirm that you can be available on all the listed dates.
