Active research projects:

Design of a model magnetic sector mass spectrometer capable of rover deployment and carrying out high resolution Ar/Ar analyses.

Development of interpretive constructs for 40Ar/39Ar data tuning towards dating the Martian surface. 40Ar/39Ar is currently limited to single mineral phases, but the non-ideal conditions e.g., bulk sediment like mixtures on the Martian surface mean that new ideas are needed. Un-mixing a bulk mixture a priori into individual phases and ages after measurement. Age constraints will develop an understanding of surface evolution, geological process and provenance on the Martian surface.
