Creating molecular metrics to assess the status of peatlands using high resolution analytical techniques.

Scottish NMR Outreach Coordinator University of Edinburgh (1/3/2016-30/09/2016)
Funded by both Nanalysis and ScotCHEM, my role was to popularise NMR spectroscopy in high-schools, undergraduate and industrial laboratories using a 60 MHz benchtop NMR spectrometer. This involved:
– creating an NMR workshop for teachers and industrial researchers.
– creating a website for the Scottish NMR Community (
– organising a UK wide conference called NMR for Industry.
– setting up an annual meeting for the Scottish NMR Community at Firbush Point Centre, Killin, Scotland.
– touring Scotland with a benchtop NMR spectrometer to schools and SMEs.
– creating new undergraduate experiments for the 3rd year undergraduate teaching labs.
