SAGES Annual Meeting 2008

The Forest Hills hotel, set on the gentle shores of Loch Ard was the perfect setting for the 1st SAGES Annual Meeting held from Wednesday, 17th to Friday 19th September, 2008. Over 80 people attended the event from all of the SAGES partner institutions from across Scotland.

On the first day of the meeting delegates were given a warm welcome and introduction by Tom Crowley, the SAGES director, as well as an overview of all of SAGES Theme activities and highlights!

Bill Austin then updated delegates of the recent events of the SAGES Graduate School, followed by a short introduction by Andy Kerr as to the activities and purpose of the SAGES shared resources. In an evening session Mark Rounsevell then went on to hold SAGES 1st Society theme meeting.

The morning sessions on Day 2 were given over to SAGES research activities across Scotland, followed by a look at the wider opportunities and links for the SAGES community.

In the final session of day 2 the SAGES Graduate School held a poster session to highlight work being carried out by SAGES graduates as well as SAGES post-docs. Along side the poster session Mike Mineter held a drop-in session for those who wanted to explore possibilities of working with CESD.

The final day saw the continuation of some of the showcase research projects currently being carried out by SAGES researchers followed up by a 'Funding and the Future' session, in which Andy Kerr explored future funding drivers.

A question and answer session with the SAGES Research Committee followed after which the SAGES Director Tom Crowley brought the meeting to a close.
